Sam's Take On: There's No Way Of Knowing

I’ve always loved the first day of spring. Winters in Ontario can be long and draining. That faint hint of hope the first day of spring brings is enough to get you rejuvenated. When I was at University in Sudbury I had a personal tradition, on the first day, I’d pull out my Birkentstocks (yes, I was that guy) and wear ‘em all day. There was usually snow still on the ground, but I was wearin' ‘em dammit! After 6 long months of cold and dark, I deserved it. And of course, being of a certain vintage, the song ‘First Day of Spring’ was spinnin’ in my CD player that day. If you are at all familiar with that song, the refrain repeats the line, “There’s No Way of Knowing” over and over again. I just always liked that idea, that spring brings new life, new hope, new adventures and there’s no way of knowing just what those adventures will be. When the brewery finally opened I wanted to start a new tradition; releasing  a bright and effervescent saison when spring was finally in the air. I envisioned a beer that celebrated the idea of new beginnings; There’s No Way of Knowing is that beer. The song begs you to go outside and experience a new day. If you’re at all human and the winter has beaten you down, the first day of spring is your saviour. Go outside, embrace the day, don’t waste it, cause time’s passing you by...
